Day 49

Notice all the numbers above the last few journal entries?  They are a running talley of money spent ($1080.61), average spent per record ($5.38) and total number of records purchased (201).  There is special bonus number on today's entry right above the number of records purchased - 528.  That was the projected total records purchased at end of year based on 201 records after 139 days.  Only seven more months until we reach the end of the journal so we'll see if projection is met.  But first, the 200th and 201st records I bought in 1985:
  • My Dad had a couple of Cosby 8-track tapes and I had fond memories of his "Noah", "Weird Harold", "Fat Albert" and "Chicken Heart" routines.  That last one isn't on The Best Of Bill Cosby album but the rest of them are on there.  I think we'll see that as the months of 1985 go on, I'll pick up a few more classic Cosby discs.  My newfound Cosby obsession lasted well into 1986 when I attended a live performance by the man himself.
  • New on store shelves this week in 1985 was the third album from new favorites New Order. After just one listen, Low-Life became my new favorite, kicking Prince's Around The World In A Day to the curb.  A couple of the already great songs would be improved upon with future twelve inch remixes and dubs.  Low-Life probably ranks second in all time plays of a New Order album behind the damn-near perfect Substance 1987, which contained two songs from Low-Life.

Best Of Bill Cosby - Bill Cosby (1969)
Low-Life - New Order (1985)

Neither of these albums are on The Vinyl Wall.
