Day 82

Ten days after picking up the single, the album was released. In addition to the single mix, the album included the original one minute TV theme and three other Jan Hammer instrumentals from the show. The album's release date was not random as it came out the same week the second season of Miami Vice premiered, with another New York City episode. And Pam "Foxy Brown" Grier. Directed by "Starsky" - Paul Michael Glaser. Glaser had directed two episodes during the first season, including the "Smugglers Blues" episode starring Glenn Frey, who scored a big coup with two of his songs on the soundtrack album. Glaser's old TV partner "Hutch" - David Soul - also directed an episode of Miami Vice during its freshman season. But I digress. The music on the album was mostly available elsewhere yet I still could not deny myself the pleasure of owning it. Check out my own Miami Vice single disc playlist HERE.

  1. I never bought this one, opting to dub a cassette of a friend's LP - "home taping is killing music" (turns out it was actually Steve Jobs.

But I digress. Here's my take on an album that could only have been released in 1985: The CD Project: Music from the Television Series 'Miami Vice'.
